Automatic E-mail Forwarding

I am using FAXmaker with Exchange 5.5. Utilizing FAXmaker, it is possible to have incoming faxes forwarded to an e-mail box, but not to a public folder. The system HAD been configured so that the e-mail box that it was forwarded to would then be auto-forwarded to the public folder.

Someone inadvertently deleted the public folder and now I'm trying to reconstruct what had been done before. I have everything going into the e-mail box as it should, but I have as of yet been unable to figure out how to configure the auto-forwarding.

Can someone either give me a quick run-through on this or direct me somewhere that I may find the information?

Thanks in advance.

1.create the public folder and insure that the mailbox has at minimum Contributor permissions
2.in Exchange Admin open the Properties page for that folder and on the Advanced tab, clear the "hide from address book" check box
3.log on to the mailbox with Outlook and create a rule that forwards all messages to the folder
4.if needed, hide the folder again after the rule has been tested

Sorry for asking another potentially stupid question, however I have very little experience with Exchange.

If a rule is created in Outlook, it will still be forwarded even if Outlook is not open for the mailbox?

Yes, as long as it's a "server side" rule. Essentially, that means you're not asking the server to access anything that would be unavailable if outlook were closed, like a personal folder. So, in your case, no problem.
