Automatic certificate enrollment for local system failed to enroll for one Domain Controller certificate (0x800706ba). The RPC server is unavailable.

I do not have a certificate service installed on the domain controller, and don't remember uninstalling it. The certs are about to expire, and I have been getting these messages for a few weeks. The references tread did not help me - Cryptographic Services are running.

Do I need to install a Certificate Services? How were the certs created initially?

If you don't have a CA and you never have, then you can ignore this message. Otherwise you will have to track down the CA and renew its certificates.
