In a video production evironment, we currently have overlays that are placed over a completed video. An overlay contains company logo and some other information that is specific to each movie that it is being used on. We have the completed ovelays done in photoshop, and we have to manually change the information on them, and save each of them as a PNG with a certain file name. The process is too manual and we are looking into ways of automating this. I would be willing to use any program to dynamically enter in certain information and generate the named PNG files.

To summarize, is there a way to script the process of entering names into an original file, and save the file as a PNG with the entered name as the filename? (not limited to only photoshop)

I hope I was specific enough.

By the way, if you wanted to change the text of the overlay in photoshop, and save the psd file in order to create a unique filename, you could then create an action to create and save the png. This would sort of half automate it.

Blimey. Maybe something like Perl with Image::Magick? How many do you have to do?

Kind Regards
Duncan
