Autochanger on Storagenode 1

I have some trouble with a MSL6030/LTO-3 autochanger on Windows2003 Storagenode (Networker 7.1.3)
I used sucessfully the tape as standalone (scsi connection)
Now I want to use the jukebox;
jbconfig is OK, but when I want to inventory the first slot, the tape is not seen and I have this message:
"\\.\Tape0 reading: read open error:drive status is The tape drive is ready for use"
What does it mean?

How many drives do you have?
I suspect NW loads the wrong device.

Run inquire first, then rerun jbconfig and make sure you use the same device sequence.

The autochanger has 2 LTO Drives.
I checked the S/N with HP Library&Tape Tools, the order is the same than inquire:
Drive1 = Tape0 = scsi@2.1.0
Drive2 = Tape1 = scsi@4.2.0
I deleted the jukebox resource, and manualy load a tape in the first drive, and then I had to retry more than 10 times to sucessfully mount the tape, after disable/enable device, after many error message "The tape drive is ready for use".
The storagenode is remotely connected thru a 64K WAN.
Can it be timout problems?

Hard to say. The best is still that you load a tape via NW using "nsrjb -ln -f device_name".

Then use the command "tapeexercise" for each device. I am sure that you have success on one drive. This would prove my theory.

Of course you may also run "jbedit" and switch the device names.

Now comes the key point: A SN connected over ISDN is possible but not recommended. I do not see a problem right now although this is possible.

However, fact is that all index data needs to travel via this line. This means that you can send about 50 filenames per second. This will work for a few large files but for a fast drive like LTO with real data, this does not seem to be a good idea. A lot of shoe-shining will be the result and will cause extensive stress on the drive and the media.

Our WAN will be upgraded to 4 Mb, so I hope the index will not be a problem.

After investigations, I found the reason for the strange message "tape drive is ready" and unsuccessfull mounts:
Library&Tape Tools was probably in conflict on SCSI with Networker; I had to exit after loading a tape,
all is OK now.
