Auto start Oracle 9i DB on AIX restart

Somewhere on our AIX is a file list of script to auto start DBs when the server starts.

I cannot find it, would there be a default location for such an item, please?

Have you looked at /etc/inittab? It possibly references something called dbstart which should autostart your databases if they're included in a file called dbstab.
 
Thanks, it gave theclue that it was in /etc/oratab and the entry had N, do not start after reboot.
