Auto printing

I have setup shared printing on a dedicated PC and when I I setup the printers on the other equipment (all running Windows XP) there are also Auto printers of the same printer share name and the ones configured, for example:

\\server\HPd135 and then there will be another that contains Auto server\HPd135.

What are these printers for?
