Customer is a busy restaurant that had a Partner system with ASA. They want to replicate what they had for incoming call handling. Tried putting them in PBX mode. Initial incoming calls were routed calls to a hunt group with several extensions as members. Set-up overflow after 15 seconds to a dummy "parking" hunt group with 4 dummy users - each one forwarded to a separate short code for each of the 4 Park buttons on each phone. Used *61, *62, *63, *64.
Short Code for Park1 was:
Code: *61
Action: Dial
Tel#: *37*1#

The remaining short codes dialed the other Park locations in a similar fashion. The idea was that unanswered incoming calls were automatically parked after 3 rings on successive Park button as they overflowed.

The scheme did not work - calls got stuck in the overflow hunt group and went nowhere.

Maybe the short code should be:
Code: *61
Action: Call Park
Tel#: *37*1#

Didn't get a chance to test that variation. Wondering if anyone has tried something similar - successfully.

Never did something similar. But I would think the short code has to be *61/Call Park/1

I just tried this out on my system. There does not seem to be any way to auto park a call. Incoming call routes, transfers from voicemail pro, or overflow within a group - none of them get the call to park. Pretty sure this has to be initiated by the user.

I think your only option really is to drop them into a queuing group and put a button on the phone that lights up when there is a call in the group. The longest queued user will be answered first.

Makes even more sense instead of trying to fill ongoing Park slots.

[li]Incoming Call Route to HG 200-Main[/li]
[li]HG 200-Main is CCW, has Announcements ON, 25 seconds for 1st announcement, MOH, 30 seconds to 2nd announcement[/li]
[li]HG 200-Main has 25 second overflow to HG 300-MainOverflow, with HG 300 entered multiple times[/li]
[li]HG 300-Main Overflow has one member, a single line station named "Queued Call"[/li]
[li]Users have a User button for the single line station named "Queued Call", the button is labeled "Pick Up Queued Call"[/li]
[li]As long as the incoming call is ringing to the single line station in HG 300-MainOverflow, the User button is flashing, and pressing it will retrieve the oldest call[/li]

Thanks for the responses. Thank you AACon for checking out all possible auto park options - so I didn't have to waste my time experimenting. Thank you TouchTone Tommy for a point-by-point lesson on setting up a possible option. We had tried a similar option with overflow to an empty hunt group and a "Group" button - but the customer was pretty insistent that they wanted something very similar to their old Partner with the ASA card. I guess the answer is - it cannot be done.

It's been said before, the customer bought a new system and can't expect everything to be the exactly same.

Nobody buys a new car and expects it to feel like their 1980 Renault 5.

Here's an Idea.

Incoming call rings all phones & they have someone actually ANSWER THE PHONE!
Dumping callers into a park bay (I assume to silence the "Annoying" ringing) is not very good customer service.

Does this restaurant have any idea how many people phoning to make a booking give up due to no answer?
Do they honestly think that the caller will hold on indefinitely or call back & NOT go somewhere else (probably to never return)?

nk you AACon for checking out all possible auto park options - so I didn't have to waste my time experimenting.
That's the completely wrong way to work!

Like I have said on previous threads, they want US to do all of THEIR work and research, drives me crazy!!!

I think if you will look at tdaugirdas profile, he's a pretty well respected member...
