I have opened a document created in Word 2000 for editing in Word XP. The auto page numbering has stopped. All pages are now number 0. I have tried the usual of deleting and re-creating the footer - but no joy.

Anybody got any clues on this please?

Hi

You could try copying the contents of the entire document to a new file and try the page numbers again.

Hope this helps

Simple solution, but it broadly worked.

I was working with a special template. Using the latest version of the template and copying the contents has cured the page numbering problem, but screwed up alot of the formatting. But this is sorted now.

Thanks

MSKB #292158 WD2002: All Document Page Numbers Are Unexpectedly Changed to 0 (Zero)

There is a hot fix for this problem... see the MSKB article above

OK.

Very helpful, thanks for that. I had a good search through the KB before I posted this. Your search techniques are obviously more superior to mine!

Thanks

LOL... I hafta be honest Martyn... I'd run into this with someone just last week and 'someone else' had found the information... I just retained it and passed it on...

MSKB can be a bear to search through sometimes! :)
