I have a user with a SONY PCG-FX215 laptop. We have (clean)installed Windows 2000 on it. The top PCMCIA slot status in device manager states "This device cannot start (code 10)". The event log shows the driver does does not load at startup. After manually reinstalling the driver the top PCMCIA slot functions correctly. After restarting the laptop the problem reoccurs. Again, reinstalling driver corrects the problem.
From what I can determine this is a BIOS / W2k compatibility issue. Unfortunately, Sony doesn't have an updated BIOS for this model nor do they have updated W2k drivers for the PCMCIA slot. (I would never buy a Sony PC because of their utter lack of support...)
What I'd like to do is have the OS automatically reinstall that driver at each startup so it is transparent to the user and both PCMCIA slots function normally.
Any ideas?

How about starting the drive in the Startup Folder?

You might take a look at the device for the PCMCIA slot in device manager. Make sure it is set to "enable" in this hardware profile. Good luck, and Happy Computing

the device is set to "enable".
any way to install a driver at each startup without user interaction?
