I have just been informed that one of our users is leaving the company, but a) their e-mail account needs to still stay active for a short while, and b)"is it possible that we can stop them sending e-mails until we've checked them first?"

So they'd like any emails sent from 'Bob' (the leaver) to automatically be sent to 'Fred' (HR person) who can then decide whether the e-mail is fit to be sent outside the company, and forward it from there.

Is this possible at all?

All help gratefully received. Thanks.

Neil.

Not easily - there are ways and means, but it involves reconfiguring your IMS structure and messing about with SMTP queues - probably not worth it for 1 user.

Why not just stop this user sending externally, full stop? Then they can manually forward any messages that need to be sent externally to their manager, who can openly vet the messages.

Thanks, zbnet. I didn't think it would be straightforward if possible in the first place.

Please remind this thick and tired person how I can stop them sending externally. I know about rejecting the incoming stuff but not sure about the external bit [sadeyes]

Thank you.

Neil.

Just had a quick check - would that be through Connections -> IMS -> Delivery Restrictions tab -> add leaver's name to 'Reject' list?

Spot on. You have to stop and restart the IMS for it to pick up changes here, though, so it's easier to add a DL to this tab, then put the mailbox(es) you want to block in the DL. It's much easier then to make changes to the DL rather than cycling the IMS every time the list of blocked users changes.
