In Access 97, is there a way to turn off the auto correct typing feature. I've hunted through the menu options and couldn't find it.

Here's my problem in a nutshell. I'm typing words directly into a table and for my project I need to make sure that these words only contain the 26 letters of the English alphabet. (No numbers, no hyphens, no punctuation of any sort!!) However, whenever I type a word such as "entree", Access automatically changes it to "entrée" which causes problems in my app. (Don't ask, long story)

Hi,

In the Textbox properties theres an option called
ALLOW AUTO CORRECT

maybe you should check that out

Hope it helps!

Hmmm, well I guess I could build a form to type into, but I would rather not if I can avoid it. I'm typing directly into the table and the table itself changes the entry.

I checked the table properties but didn't see that option listed. Maq [americanflag]

Hi, That's form Access Help Check that out.

"Stop the automatic correction of an entry I make when I'm entering data

1 On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect.
2 Click the entry you want to delete in the box at the bottom.
3 Click Delete."

Hope it's of better help ;) Salvatore Grassagliata

Thanks!! That did it.

Geez, I feel like an idiot. I completely skipped over the auto-correct entry in the menu and went straight to "options". Never even noticed that one. [dazed] Maq [americanflag]
