Just had a nightmare of a time figuring out why a J169 phone wouldn't register with an IPO. It seems as if DHCP opt 242 only fights half the battle if your phone is on a separate subnet from your IPO. I had to go on site and A. enable manual SIP proxy and B. enter the IP address of the PBX as the SIP proxy and then enable TCP vs TLS.

I have a 500V2 on version 11 here in our lab with a J169 and all I had to do was dump the J series firmware on the SD card and the phone worked perfectly. Never had to do anything other than DHCP option 242, granted this test environment is a flat network.

People with J series phones, are you still relying on Option 242? Is there a way to push the SIP proxy address to the phone automatically as well?

Okay, after reading several other threads, it seems like best practice is to delete your 46xxsettings.txt file and let the system generate another one. Then upload a 46xxspecials.txt with the code to disable TLS and set your SIP proxy address, port, and TCP

Code:
SET TLSSRVRID 0
SET SIP_CONTROLLER_LIST [192.168.4.15]:5060;transport=tcp
Like this?

I understand now that this is done you don't need to enable 46xxspecials.txt from the NoUser user.

How long does it take for the system to reproduce the 46xxsettings.txt file? I can browse to it here but don't see it under primary folder.

And what exactly does this do from the newly generated 46xxsettings.txt file?

Sorry so many questions. I want to perfect this, create a KB for it and put it to bed.

You don't see the file because IPO autogenerates it on the fly if it is accessed. You just can look into it with your browser.
