Auto Complete Not saving Passwords? 1

This might be worth a try.
This fix also applies to Outlook, other programs that store passwords in the Protected Storage System Provider sub branch of the Registry. It also corrects some issues with Internet Explorer and Autocomplete.
Under Windows XP Tips look for Outlook Express does not save passwords.
You might also want to look at what your doing with Cookies from sites that have login passwords.

Linney, Thank You for the reply. I have that site already, but i thought that was just for outlook express,which i do not use, i just use aol and yahoo! I have my cookies set and i have no problem with getting into a forum without using my password! But isnt that because of my cookie setting and NOt the explorer saving the password? Aren't they two different things? I cannot get into my email at mail.com without always logging in, even though the explorer screen comes up and ask's me if i want it saved, so i wont have to type it in again, then i say Yes, but it never saves it! What do you think? Maybe, you know of another test i can use to see if it is working? Please let me know what you think? Tom

on a site where you enter a name and password double click the name box when its empty and a list of previously used names will apear, put the mouse over the names (dont click) and press delete to clear them, then when you enter the name and password again all should be ok ...

Thanks, i tried it but No dice, i think i windowsME the names are saved in a drop down menu but not XP, but i tried it anyway, I cannot get it to save in this forum either, but it saves in other forums, and i have it set to accept cookies too!
I thought that also mentioned it might help fix IE6 autocomplete.

I had the same problem and found this thread in a search...
Turned out to be the Protected Storage service was disabled.

In my case the service was not only stopped, it was disabled. I started it and reset it to Automatic. Problem solved. Note that even with this service disabled DUN passwords were remembered, also POP3 paswords in Eudora
All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.
