Hi all.
I have auto attendant on VM-Pro with Notify caller of transfer to Target (checked).
The result is that the person calling will hear the recorded voice-mail box name of the extension user being played.
My requirement is for the VM-Pro to read out the name of the extension user instead of playing the recorded name.
Is this possible?

Record a prompt in the Transfer action.
This will be static, so if the destination is changed in the future, record again.

Kind regards

Gunnar

I do not want it to play a recorded prompt but to read out the name of the user.
Currently it is what you have mentioned.

Try $NAM as the prompt.

Kind regards

Gunnar

Hi Gunnaro.
I am sorry to report that the prompt of $NAM does not work as required.

You have it in Intuity mode?

Works just fine on my system, no fuzz at all, just tick the "Notify Caller of Transfer...."

Kind regards

Gunnar

It says Transferring then cuts off when I use $NAM with "' Notify Caller ticked"
But when I remove $NAM and replace with $KEY with "' Notify Caller ticked" it says Transferring to XXX
XXX being the recorded name of user.

So you base the destination from either a "???" or "$" action in the AA menu, you failed to mention that...

Well, well, and now I've read your question one more time...I'm a bit confused.

You have a user and there has been recorded a name, but you want the IPO to read the name that is written in the config?
Why would there be any difference in the two?

Sounds awfully strange to have an user named Paul, while the actual user responds better to Peter.

Kind regards

Gunnar

Lets say the user is Peter.
Peter has set up his VMail and recorded his name that is Peter. I notice that when the system is transferring a call it says : "You are being transferred to .... Peter". The "Peter " is of poor quality and has noise in the background.
Apart from Peter there are a lot of other users who each have recorded their names in different tones and backgrounds.

Now if I can get the system to read the name assigned to the VMail user instead of the name the user has recorded then it becomes uniform.
AACon has misunderstood me.

I hope I am clear on what I want to achieve. it is not about changing names. it is about the system reading instead of playing the VMail username when transferring a call.

If it's important, have someone with a nice sounding voice spend the morning recording users names for them in a quiet environment, best solution rather than fudging it :)

If get names done in the studio will it be possible to upload them to the system?

You can put them in C:\Program Files (x86)\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro\VM\Greetings.

First record low quality, the file name will be "username_1.wav".
Rename the new studio files to match and paste them in (replacing existing file).

Kind regards

Gunnar

BTW, having Text to Speech read names can get real funny.

Works ok for Peter and Paul, but try "Graeme, Xio Ling, Günther, Roald, Vladimir.."
(They will not be happy, I assure you)

Kind regards

I guess that puts this matter to rest. Though I wish the system could just read names.
Thank you.
