what do I need to get Auto Attendant set up?
with prompts to go to diffrent depts.?
and a program button on the console to start and stop auto attendant.
do I need a diffrent card on the Definity or Intuity?
does anybody have a step by step guide????

This is hard at all created a mail box for the extension number of the attendant console on the first page of the subscriber in intuity change the mailbox type to auto-atendant. On the following pages I can't remember which one exactly there is a form which allows you to specify what actions are taken when specific numerical keys are pressed. For example you can transfer a call to an internal extension or and external number by pressing one. Then all you have to do is record the mailbox greeting accordingly ie. press one for...... press two for .......

Hope this helps

thanks to colby007 , who assumed i know what i'm doing,
but with his guidence, i finally set up a generic auto attendant-that i would like to test for real tonight, so i didn't use the attendants extension.
now partII
once i do set the attendants extension on the Auto attendant in voice mail.
how do i turn it off during the day and on at night?
can a button be programed on the attendant console?
if yes, how?
or is it programed on intuity, if so how?

thanks

Hard to give advice without knowing your config & exactly what your trying to do & why.

It also depends on what you mean by the attendants extension. If it is the Console Extension, it won't go anywhere at night, if it's zero then you need to make your audix hunt group, the night destination in the LDN form. In the Audix you need to set up the auto attendant business schedule (you can probably leave the times there as default, covering 24 hours, since the attendant would only route into there when the console was in nights). Next set up a mailbox for the attendant using any spare number and assign an aut-smg wait key on the console with that number. In the auto attendnat routing schedule in Audix assign 0000 and enter your mailbox number in the destination fields. This will capture the dial zero id coming from the switch & convert it to the attendant mailbox number.

Depending on how your switch is set up there might be conflicts with the night destination in trunk groups.

If you want the attendant to have their own number other than zero, you can set up a non acd/nonqueue/non vector hunt group with that number,(no members in the group). Set the coverage path to go to zero, and the night destination to audix. You can then use a hunt-ns key on the console to switch it. You can get rid of coverage tone system wide if it's irritating by changing "coverage caller response interval in system-parameters coverage to zero.

Do you have attendant vectoring or ACD turned on in your switch? If so you can use a VDN and vector to deliver your switchboard calls. Within the vector use a time of day step and specify where the call is routed at certain times of day ie night/day. I think that would be the easiest way.

Hope all is well on the testing front!

A lot depends on how the calls are getting to the attendant and whether the attendant is in fact a real attendant console or just a regular station performing the duties of an attdnt console. If u can do the command " display attendant 1" and see the attdt console, then it is a real attdt console. There are different ways for the attdt to receive calls, none of these should be calls directed to the extension of the attdt console. Then u have to see how the calls are getting to the attdt console, by way coverage in a cover path(do the command " list cover path"and look for paths that have "attdt" in one of the coverage points), or "listed directory number"(ldn). Then the calls need to be redirected from the ldn, which can be done by having a "night" destination on the ldn, and have that a mailbox in the intuity with the auto attd answering there.
By putting the system in to "nights" by pressing the button on the attdt console, u can control if the operators take the calls or the auto attdt takes the call.
If the call is not coming to the attdt by a LDN, but instead by a cover path, then u can find who is using that cover path by using the command "display cover sender X", with X being the cover path used.
