authenticates in Windows, but not Mac

I have a web page that uses NT authentication. I have a user who can authenticate to that page using her NT username and password, but only in Windows, not in Macintosh. Any other user who should be able to authenticate to the page in Macintosh is able to do so. I know plenty about NT and almost nothing about Macintosh, and I suspect the problem comes from the latter, since I can't think of anything with the former that would cause this. Anybody have any ideas?

NT Authentication is only supported by IE on Win32.

If you are correct, then why are most of my Mac users able to authenticate in IE using NT Challenge/Response? The person in question can do it now too, even though nothing changed. The problem seemed to fix itself.
