Ello all, I am trying to put my 2501 to use (Terminal Server). But i have no AUI->RJ45 converter. So does anyone know if i could just us an 8 pair and "stick" in the the right ports and maybe do a "ghetto" AUI converter or does the actual converter do anything special?

You could, but a transceiver actually has link lights on it. I would just buy one off ebay---they're like $3

Well I wouldn't be myself if I didn't try to make one myself. I have been looking around for a diagram but havn't been able to find one on how the wiring is done. Does anyone know how to make one yourself? I can go down to radio shack in the am and pick up a DB15 and some pins I guess i could create a circut board and an enclosure. And i looked on the Bay. From the looks of it I can get one for 17$ but it comes from China. :(

bobbyforhire,

$9.99 each -

or $12 from this guy Anthony Panda - I have bought from him 3-4 times in the past -

Just not worth the time to make it yourself - but knock yourself out!!

I think I would rather spend my time learning Cisco configs on the rack :) Just me :)

I think i would rather make one tonight so i could save more money to buy more cisco equipment :)

good looking out tho. If i don't find a diagram on the wiring by monday i'm just going to order one :)

What new Cisco equipment can you buy for the $10 it will cost you for the transceiver?
