Hello
Does anyone know the root password for Definity Audix 3.2 ?
i´m reinstalling the software on this voicemail but i receive the following message
Type Ctrl-d to start AUDIX,
(or give the root password for system maintenance)
when i hit Ctrl-d ask me again for the root password
any clue ?
thanks

If it is asking you for the root password I suspect that you had hardware issue. I might be an idea to format the hard disk though, if you are restoring the system because the hard disk has failed, is the disk a Audix recognised disk. Def Audix is very touchy about hard disks. If the software has installed OK you will not be requested to press control d or enter the root passwprd. The root password is only known to Avaya and they will never release it.....

again and again

Even if you had the root password it would not help as the disk is in a read only mode as it has an issue with virtual file systems. The disk you used, is it an audix disk or just a scsi dusk you have got. If the sectors don't match what the Audix software is looking for it will fail when it reboots. As you can't play with it like you can with an UNIX OS install you're stuck. If you have the correct hardisk try formating and re-initallising the disk before you install the software

thanks again
i go to ctrl cc
and then i did twice
first i made a formatt and initialize the disk and then reload the software
and the reload is successfully but then send the message above
so you really think that is the hard disk ?
the original disk is a seagate but im installing on a quantum disk with the same capacity

thanks for your quickly answare

same capacity but a different sector arrangment

I take it, this is not an avaya part. The only thing I can recommend that you get the correct disk. Also there are many sub versions of 3.2 e.g 3.2.1 3.2.2 3.2.3 etc the version you are trying to install may not not support the disk you are tring to install.. Sorry I dont have an up to date list but in the manual quantum is not listed as a supported disk. Plus of you do find a version that does support it and it not the one that was on the orignal disk it will not restore the backups. It is best to swap like for like.

Maybe someone has a better idea than me!!!

Many many thanks
i will find another hard disk
but thanks for all your replays

I would buy a Intuity on ebay or other auction for $100. One was offered last week and never sold.

Last thing I can remember is that the root password for Intuity used to be 'guess1t'. Maybe this works for the Definity Audix as well??

Good luck...

thanks orypecos and vtec for you help
i will try with the password that vtec told
also i will try with another HD

thanks again
