if i am playing any kind of audio (wav, mp3, ogg, etc) and my hard drive makes a burst read, ie. when the hdd light is very bright and blinks very fast for a few short seconds, the audio skips, slows down, pauses, has cracks like a LP(old 33 record). This has been happening for a while now, ever since a friend loaned me a corrupted drive, and i set it as slave (not knowing it was corrupted of course). It is not my soundcard drivers, i know that for sure. Also, I am running Windows 2000 pro. 40gig segate 5400rpm hdd.

thanks in advance.
