In Adobe Premiere 6.01, I recently used Export Timleline --> Save for Web --> AVI CD-ROM --> 4X CDROM to compress a video for use on a CD-ROM disk.

Both video and audio worked fine on my computer, but when I tried it on a computer of the client for whom I had developed the .avi file, the audio did not work.

The computer played an audio CD fine, so we know the audio works on it. A tech person there said that it might be because that computer did not have the proper audio plug-in for my .avi file. (The computer runs under Windows NT.)

Does anyone happen to know what audio plug-in is needed to play the kind of Premiere-generated .avi file described above?

Thanks!

Bill B.

It could be the audio codec that was used during compression that your client does not have installed. Check your properties when you exported for the audio compression.

Pixelchik,

It said Cinepak. Would that be it? If so, where does one get the codec if they want to install it on a computer?

BB,
I'm not an expert in codecs, but I believe Cinepak is the video codec. Another way to check which audio codec is being used is to open the AVI in Windows Media Player. Go to File>Properties>File and should tell you the video and audio codecs. When you export your video file from Premiere, you should also be able to set the audio codec you wish to use, or it will be in the preset properties for your project.
