Any ideas why I'm not getting audio through the softphone when connecting through VPN to ip office system? Inside the Lan the audio works perfectly. Outside the office when connecting through checkpoint securemote vpn client get no inbound or outbound audio. Installed most recent release of both IP Office and Phone Manager.

Thanks for your help.

How long do you let the call go on for without audio? I had a similar case where the speech path came good after about 10 - 20 seconds. SO it may be that if you keep the call active for that long audio will happen

We solved this one by setting the codec at each end of the link.

Take Care

Matt
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

Phone manager / configure preferences / audio codecs / tick confirm ip address

Restart phone manager and check the ip address is correct.

The IP routes on the IPO setup ? default gateway

Does sound a like the vpn blocking ports though.

I have a site with a similar problem due to out of date checkpoint software
You ned to use the secure gateway version of checkpoint

Turned out there were two problems. The first was that we updated the server to the most current release but did not update the phone manager client. Avaya just released the phone manager software and it is available for download at

I uninstalled the old phone manager client prior to installing the new one. I just didn't trust the Avaya upgrade path. After installing the new software I matched the audio codecs to G.711 ULAW 64K on the server and client and it fixed the problems.

Thanks for all your help. Your suggestions were great.

Even Avaya recommend PMis unisnatalled & then reinstalled.
Avaya release notes say do nou use the Upgrade option

Oops, I spoke too soon. We had it working but it's down again. Any ideas?

Sorry I do not have the setting for the checkpoint.

For Cisco PIX you need to do the following:
For PMPro PC ensure you are not blocking / or stateful monitoring of UDP ports 50796 and 50794.

This is usual setting for IPOffice to IPOffice via pix VPN.
In pix configuration
make sure you deactivate/remove these (no fixup)

no fixup protocol h323 h225 1720
no fixup protocol h323 ras 1718-1719
no fixup protocol tftp 69

Then remove the timeout statements related to VoIP

timeout conn 10:00:00 half-closed 10:00:00 udp 2:00:00 icmp 0:00:02
timeout sunrpc 0:10:00 h323 0:05:00 h225 1:00:00 mgcp 0:05:00
timeout mgcp-pat 0:05:00 sip 0:30:00 sip_media 0:02:00

I know that this is not you but it may help others.

David
