Please help! I am getting no audio playback when I play the edited sequence.

The audio is fine with the clips themselves, just not with the sequence.

After a bit of tinkering I discovered the Playback Settings window and made sure that audio playback was over the computer speakers, not over the DV device (which is not present). Still no joy.

I am absolutely stumped with this one. The video clips are in Video 1 and the corresponding audio in Audio 1. Is there some arcane way that I need to know of ensuring that Audio 1 is incorporated into the Master audio track? I thought all audio tracks went into it by default, but perhaps not.

I have exactly the same problem. I have noticed that imported mp3s are OK.

If you have found an answer to this, please let me know.

Does this happen with all projects? Or just this one? Make sure you dont have Audio Track 1 muted or the mixer set on 0 volume...If it happens on this project check the settings on the other projects make sure they are the same audio wise...If it happens on all projects make sure your audio card/chipset is working correctly by checking it in the Device Manager (If you have windows). Try and update the drivers or reinstalling the card/chipset. Good Luck!

Thanks, Quijian - I'm not sure it's helping. One of my projects seems to be all right, but not the others and I can't find any difference between them. When I start a new project it always has the problem. I've checked for muting etc. and I know the sound chip is fine because the sound from clips is perfectly OK - it's only a problem with the sequence. It's proving extremely annoying!

One peculiarity is that the Master Volume on the audio window appears to have 0 as its maximum, and negative numbers underneath. Is this how it should be...?

If you havent looked.. try going into the Prefrences settings and look at the playback settings. Make sure its not set to playback on DV hardware.
