Can anyone tell me where i can get a driver for the k7s5a motherboard, the one that comes with the mainboard cd does not function correctly, it's supposed to be AC97 but i've tried numerous versions of this, all with no joy, a colleague has the Avance driver but again this gave no end of problems.
Si.

The motherboard manufacturer's website? Cheers,

Word to the wise (very opinionated).

I bought an ECS motherboard (K7VZA) and AMD Athlon 1.4GHz processor. Two processors and two motherboards later, I solved the problem I had where the system would not run on a 266MHz FSB. Solution? I bought an Abit board.

ECS is not helpful, their site sucks and their tech support is worse. They were insisting that my problem was caused by not supplying enough power to the board. I have a 350W PS that is AMD certified, and also was running no peripherals at the time other than a no-frills PCI video card.

I also solved the problem where the audio would not work with my ECS board - I bought a cheap sound card.

ok, thanx all, i've already been to the mainboard manu and downloaded 11mb file to no avail, i also tried the same from ecs, the same again, and whilst yes i agree i could buy a £5 audio card, it's not the point, it should work first time round, (dont answer that one), but again thanx all, i'll keep searching, if i find any thing this will be the first place it gets posted.

Cant believe it. Got the driver (avance ac97) from MS Updates page, it told me i had it installed but was missing driver, all now working
tar all.

Glad you got sorted. What was the URL you went to and how did you install them?

I'm having a similar problem except for it sounds bad with the onboard and my sound card. My sound card and speakers work great on my other computer. I've upgraded the drivers just minutes ago and it didn't help at all.
I've got sound, it just sounds like it's underwater.
I've also tried a different set of speakers

I wrote an Email to ECS tech support twice and yet to recieve a reply

The new sis7012 driver is broken for Win98 (1st Edition). It seems to be missing sample files and so has no midi support.
