Our company uses a custom signature in our HTML emails that references a gif image located on our web server. We have Exchange server and Clients run Outlook. Here's the code:

<A href=" isMap src=" border=0></A>

Well this works great with the following exception: If an attachment is added to an email and sent to a Notes server often the attachments are stripped and the signature image becomes the attachment.

I know there is a solution for these Notes servers? Currently we have to send plain text emails to them if we want to add attachments. Any ideas?

This could be related to sending multiple attachments from a Exchange client to a Domino client. It is a known issue and appears to be related to Microsoft's desire to stray from RFCs. Though this is fixed in later versions of Exchange. If memory serves, it's 5.x and lower that have this problem in Exchange.

If you view the source of the message (exporting it will work) you may see that the attachment is encoded into the body of the message (Notes won't display this). You can get any one of a number of shareware products which will strip the attachment back out of the message.

You can also look at the size of the message and might notice the size is higher than it should be for a message that doesn't seem to have attachments.

The fix, if this is the case...upgrade Exchange.
