YOu can use many 3rd party vendors for that or you can purchase a hardware firewall and strip attachments at the gateway before they get in (would also strip attachments if users use aol, hotmail etc)
Is outlook 98/2000 your email client? If so, there is a possibility of stripping attachments. It is part of the Outlook security update. Reference Microsoft Knowledge base articles Q263297. I also found an article "Customizing the Outlook 98/2000 E-mail security update" at
that let me customize which file extensions would be stripped. For Outlook 2000, Q262631 and for Outlook 98, Q262617. It involves creating an Outlook Security Settings Folder on the exchange server. Installing a form (downloaded from MS) and making a registry edit on each client to get the security settings from that form. We started using it several months ago and it works ok so far.
