ATI Radeon 7000 VE on Gigabyte GA8 - Problem with DOS-Box Fullscreen

Hi @ all,

my problem is, that i have a new PC with Gigabyte Mainboard GA-8i848e, Intel PIV 2,8 GHz and a ATI Radeon 7000VE.
I´m using Win98SE.
All BIOS (Mainboard and Graficsboard) are up-to-date, latest drivers are installed.

Opening a DOS-Box in FULLSCREEN-Mode causes the system to hang completely. Monitor goes in Stand-By-Mode.

The Problem also occurs in Win 2003 Server with the drivers
that come with W2003... other combinations were not tested but it seems not to be a problem of the OS

Someone here with a solution?

See if reinstalling Windows on top of itself helps.

sorry, also this was checked in win98 - without success

didnt check out in w2003 server - but for what should this be good? systems have both been installed some days ago

hi ski,

the problem is the grafic-card, not the OS, this is
nearly 100% sure. i have 4 identical systems (hardware) but different OS, all causing the same problem.....
so i think i need a solution for the grafik-card oder perhaps the mainboard....

When the system hangs and the monitor goes into standby by "opening a DOS-Box in FULLSCREEN-Mode", is DOS being accessed from within Windows, or is the system being started in DOS?

Did you disable all standby options in BIOS and in Control Panel/Power Mgmt.?

Did you try different video card drivers, and/or a different video card?

it´s the dos box from within windows (command)
the standby-option is something i could try,

another videocard will be tested next week....
