The ASUS terminator are what I would call "budget-conscious" machines. The parts are of undoubted high quality, but to the average hobbyist, are somewhat out of date.
Let's get a little perspective;
The AMD version is built around the KT133A chipset - a tried and trusted platform, and with the ASUS badge on it, plenty fast enough for most apps and games. It will take any of the AMD 200 or 266Mhz CPUs up to the XP 2200.
The Intel version uses the P4 400 and/or 533Mhz FSB, so will support most of the current crop of Intel processors and is probably a better choice, despite my own preference for AMD-based systems!
Either way, you get a quality, well-built machine for very little money - but I would also consider the ChyangFun range, if only because the AMD versions support DDR RAM. The footprint of these boxes is also very small indeed, and, I believe they have integrated graphics.
Either way, the Terminator is pretty good value.
As a further alternative, companies like Scan sell cheap cases with PSUs for around £30. Team that up with one of the new MSI NVidia boards with on-board GF4, and that's about the same cost as an ASUS Terminator, but greatly superior.
