Has anyone built an Athlon System with the Asus A7A262 motherboard with the ALI 1647 chipset and DDR 2100 ram?

I am just looking for recommendations becauseI was considering buying this board, and I wanted to know if it is a good board. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

yes, I just got it built. It booted into the initial screen then froze. Installed an AMD 1.2Ghz chip w/266 FSB. I think it could have burned it up as There was no jumper on the "VID" pins. I have emailed ASUS about it.

As I have researched today there seems to be some trouble with this combination much like mine - won't boot. Also heard that the 1.33 chip has overheat problems.

Performance tests by hardware review sites have shown the ALi DDR chipset to offer virtually no performance improvements over the SDRAM chipsets; in my opinion it's almost like wasting extra money on the ALi chipset. Go with the AMD 761 DDR chipset instead.

i have one .alot of temp. reading problems.don't know if it's the board, proccesser,or temp. software.i suggest asus a7m.

I decided to Use an AMD processor and an AD11 FIC motherboard. The board had a good rating for stablility. I have found it to be an excellent motherboard. With the AMD 1.2 Gig processor it runs pretty good. I ordered it from Adamant Computers (Cincinati, Ohio), with an Enlight case. I decided to give them a try since they were on the Enlight Referral list. I like the case and the board.

The Ali chipset on this board is not a good performer, as was said earlier, in benchmarks it only betters SDR Via KT133 boards by a few percent.
AMD's 761 chipset based boards would be a better choice, or if you can hold off, the impending release of Via's latest KT266a, NOTE* a, Via's KT266 was also an under achiever.
The surprise performance DDR chipset is from SIS, which has been recently top dog but will probably be beaten by the latest Via release.
SIS based boards are very cheap!!! might be worth a look!!!
