Asked for password when running report on MS Access DB

Hi all,

I've written a report in Crystal Reports 7 that reads data from an MS Access database through an ODBC connection.
The report used to work. I do not know what got changed, but now this is what happens:

-when I try to run the report, it prompts for a pwd to log on to the MS Access database, with user admin. Nothing I enter works and there is no pwd for admin. When this happens, I'm logged on at the client workstation (NT4) as DOMAIN\user1. User1 is part of the Domain Administrators.

-If I log on at the client workstation as DOMAIN\Administrator, everything works fine.

Any HELP would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

You've somehow got a mixed set of Jet DLL's.

I had this problem when a rogue install added some DLL's, but not others. I copied IMPLODE.DLL to the faulty machine and that seemed to fix things.

That "password" prompt is simply what CR does whenever it can't read the file for any reason. As you can see, it doesn't always mean that there is a password. Usually there is a problem with permissions. Since you can get there as Administrator, it might mean that the file, or a file needed to connect, is restricted to Admin access. Hi Ken,

Yes, I can open the file while I'm not Administrator. And I can open the file using a small program called "ODBCTest".

It seems that only Crystal Reports has this problem.

Hi,

There is a file IMPLODE.DLL in \winnt\system32 folder.
It has 19kb in size and Date/Time shows 11/19/1996 12:00am.
What program is responsible for this file?

Hi Ken,

No, I can not.
I even created a new MS-Access database, a new DSN using ODBC and tried to create a new report. I get the same pwd prompt.

More than that, I tried to create a new report, and I selected Database File instead of ODBC for the data source.
I get an error 'file type unknown' or similar when I select the Access database and try to open it.
