We are using an ASA demo at work and I had a question about how it uses its interfaces. There are 5 Ethernet interfaces on the back, e0/0-e0/3 and the MGMT interface. What doesn't show up when working in the ASA is E0/3. If you are using the MGMT, do you lose the ability to use E0/3, or is it just a bad interface on the ASA we received from the demo depot?

You should have all interfaces. Are you using the Management interface for management or to pass traffic? What is the feature set? Security plus?

I bet it is an ASA 5510 with a Base license. With the Base license only 0,1,2 and the Management port. In this model the Management port is limited to management only. With a 5510 Security Plus license all 5 interfaces are fully functional.

I have bought a new asa 5510 all i want is port 25 and 80 to be conigured on it so that my network can recive email and access internet. please help.

I have configured inside: 10.1.1.1/8 and outside 172.16.1.1/24 which is connected to my adsl modem. (at the moment my adsl is doing port 25 and 80 mapping for the network)

my asa is on test envronment now so can play around with it. at the moment I have cable coming of adsl modem going into my outside interface and on inside interface i have connect a laptop (10.1.1.2/8). but no traffice seems to flow plz help.

Thanks for the posts. You guys were right, it's not licensed. I didn't even think about looking for that. When I did a "sh ver", it lists the interfaces, and e0/3 isn't licensed.
