Our office is in the 630 Area Code and AT&T (our local carrier) made some changes this weekend. 10 digits must be used to call a 630 # within the 630 Area code also. However, starting today, when we dialed any 630 number, we could not get through and got an error message. We were dialing 1 + 630 + as of last Friday.
I called AT&T as well as Qwest (long distance provider) and they both said things looked OK on their side. I went into our switch and saw the ARS for that number was:
16 11 11 FNPA (Foreign Numbering Plan)
I played around with it and changed the call type to HNPA (Home Numbering Plan). This fixed the issue.
Can anyone explain to me why this would work?
Thanks..
