I have a customer who has a mics with a pri 6port combo card and a service card, who just moved to a new location aquiring a second
unit to mirror the first to facilitate the move. they want to keep the original unit as a spare.
How long will the key code for the PRI enabler stay in the unit if not kept powered up.

1) If they have a Combo then they do not need the Service Card (the combo has one built in)

2) Now this one is a coin toss I've had systems loose it after a couple of weeks and then I've had some on the shelf for 6 months that did not. But in the Install guide it says 72 hours.

The system ID should not change though so if you have the PRI code you can just re-enter it when you bring the system back on line.

I wouldn't remove any cards, even a redundant service card. Removing cards is considered a downgrade and will change the sysid rendering the PRI enabler useless.

nice catch allworxguy,
I was saying it because he does not need both for the new system. have a star

i just picked up a MICS 6.1 with pri. there is a combo card in it.

what would be the best way to keep that PRI enabler intact?
Do nothing?

Yes, any kind of software or hardware downgrade will default the system and change the system ID. Leave the system carded as is to maintain all programming. It will also depend on the memory cap on the motherboard. If it's been in service for more than 5 years it may not be holding a full charge and could also default the system if it's left powered off for for too long.

I put in the service card on the original because the switch was loaded to capacity and there was some delay thought to be a shortage of tone detectors.
the service card seemed to fix the problem.

I wasn't planning to remove any cards , I was just wondering if it would be best to put it in a box marked: spare phone system.
and probably not be required for 10 years,
(Because they are almost bullet proof)
or keep it plugged in where it might burn out before the working switch needs replacement.
My only real question is?
If it is left for a year or two or five The programming will be lost . does that also mean it will come up Default R1T1 and have to be upgraded again. or will it come back as it was left 7.1 same id , and just have to re-enter the key code or not??

Could you do a back up of the system with nru put that back up on a disk put it in the box with the phone system. Then restore if it loses memory. It should restore pri info with keycode
