Using arcserve v11.0:
We backup a file server to about 5 SDLT tapes. It backs up fine, no errors.
When trying to restore, one of the folders appears blank when we expand this. It should have many folders and files underneath. This happens for all restore jobs for this server( incremental weekdays, full on weekend )
I've checked the backup job and this particular folder is selected to be backed up, as is the subfolders.

We've taken the tapes to another location, different server, running Arcserve v11.1, merged the tapes and same issue

Any ideas as this doesn't seem to be DB related ?

As a test setup a job to backup just that directory.

Run a Scan job of the session containing that directory. Configure the log option to lob all activity. The Job Log will contain a list of all the directories and files backed up. This is to verify that the files are not on the tape.

Thanks for the reply
I've run a scan job, but it fails with both e3802 and e3803 errors in the job log.
As we have the issue with one job, I tried the backup from another evening. This is also unable to expand the one folder and show it's subfolders. Tried a scan on there and got the same errors.
I've tried running a restore by query and querying a folder I know will be underneath this folder, but it only comes up with the e3803 error again.

Hello,

I've got similiar problems and have reinstalled ArcServe v11.0, upgraded to r11.1 and then applied the latest SP1. Same problem and this is happening at two of my sites. By chance, do you have duplicate session numbers in your database under the same media? My problems appear after I run a job that appends to the media. When this happens and I look at the session numbers, the jobs that append start back at session 1. When you try to restore from one of these sessions, it pukes because it doesn't know what files/folders go with what session number. I have no solution...yet. By chance are you running Symantec Antivirus corporate on your backup servers? I disabled active protection to try and troubleshoot this problem. Oh - it's backing up to a Dell 100T DDS4 drive. Changing media doesn't help either.

I've checked and we do not have duplicate session numbers under the same media. This only happens with one job and we do not append anything to the media afterwards.
We do also run Symantec antivirus corp ed.

It's been suggested due to the size of this backup to split it into multiple jobs and then to append to media. It could be due to the size of this job ( backing up about 2 500 000 files, about 650 gb of data to 5 SDLT tapes )
