I'm trying to set up the Arcserve 2000 DB Agent so that I can back-up at 'Brick Level'.

Whenever I try to statr it I get the message:

Authentication Failure: Fail to Create Profile -- Check the [c:\ExchVerify.log] for detail and make sure the User Mailbox Name or Alias is correct and Unique <case sensitive!!!>

I tried everything and adjusted the settings to what was required as per the manuals and advice from CA.

Has anyone else ever come across this before and has found the answer?

I have the same problem with Arcserve2000. CA told me that the Exchange database is corrupt.
Frankly I do not believe it because the server is working fine and no mailbox has a problem.

Would love to know whether anybody else have the same problem as well.

I too had the same problem, but managed to resolve the issue by logging in as MSXbu

No longer have an issue, with Arcserve .

Ca have a technical document (find the link in the FAQ section of the ARCserve 2000 forum here) with a very detailed description of setting up brick level backups (complete with screen shots).

I struggled with my installation for quite some time before I "simply" followed the directions, step by step, and it worked as described.

I also cheated just a tad and found their document that told how to turn on debug logging for the agents and then went and read the log to see what really was happening.

Over on the ARCserve 2000 forum lots of people are complaining brick level backups are either not working or a real pain to get working.

They are. But following the directions line by line works.

Hi,

i am also having problems with this product, we recently upgraded to arcserve 2000, And since then i couldn't get the exchange client to backup. I later found that my colleague had not selected the "exchange" agent. after installing this product two new icons appeared under the exchange client agent. dbaexch, and dbaxch2. now when you go into "backup" these icons don't appeare, but when i go into the job queue and modify the job they're still there! but if i click on them i get the error "dbagent rpc server is not started or not available"

Im confused!

Does any one know if these options should be available for exchange 5.5?
