I installed NW6SP3 on a Netware 6 server; during installation I answered yes to update the board drivers. Everything went well until I tried to load ArcServe 9 (astart).

When searching for valid adapters, the load stopped with the following message:

BRIGHTSTOR ARCSERVE 9.0 SCSI BOARD DRIVER (BUILD 575.000 10/31/02)
EA000: FAILED HOST ADAPTER INITIALIZATION.
CANWPABD.NLM REPORTED A CRITICAL ERROR. NO MORE MODULES WILL BE LOADED
CANWPABD.NLM SCSI BOARD DRIVER HAS BEEN UNLOADED.

I reinstalled ArcServe 9 in hopes it would overwrite the drivers with it's own version, but this didn't work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks Psychoid. I did check for updates, but I was current. What I ended up doing is changing back to the original asconfig.ini & restarting. That worked! However, my tape device lost it's configuration & drivers, so I'll have to reinstall/reconfigure there also. Arrggg! I appreciate your help.

I am having a similar issue...although we are having this problem with a Netware 5.1 sp5 server and ArcServeIT 6.61. I get the Failed Host Adapter Initialization error and can't figure out for the life of me what the problem is. I would like to go back to the asconfig.ini file from before this issue, but cannot restore. (of course!)

After you changed back to the original asconfig.ini, did you restart just Arcserve or the whole server?

Also, how did you reinstall/reconfigure your tape device?

Thanks for any help you can give! :)

I had the same Problem with Arcserve 7 but after updates from Compaq!!

instead of loading nwtape.cdm in startup.ncf I used dlttape.cdm and it worked. :)

Kraftsha,
I renamed my asconfig.ini to asconfigold.ini before re-installing BrightStor ArcServe 9, so I didn't have to restore a file. I just renamed it back. Perhaps you have an older version of asconfig.ini you could convert back to. You won't want to overright the current one, so rename it first. Restarting ArcServe should be sufficient.

Question: Does ArcServe refuse to load, or does it load without the tape device?

I didn't end up having to reload any tape drivers. I found that after reloading ArcServe my Device Groups I had created were no longer there. I had to recreate the Groups, and modify my jobs to use the newly created groups. Everything worked great after that. Good luck.
