Arcserve 2000 Restore files backed up problem

NT server files were backed up w/ Arcserve 2000, verify on. Server reformated and Server 2003 installed, and Arcserve 2000 installed w/ service pack 4. Arcserve lists all files in database (copied from original server)for that backup job when I go to restore from session. Any file not protected will restore but there are 2 folders that were protected by limiting access through the security properties to one username. That user has been added to the new server.
When I try and restore those folders I get the error: "can not read cluster xxxxxx, can not find file. I have them backed up on 3 different tapes, all give the same error message.

Any ideas on what is going on and how to restore those folders?

Arcserve 2000 is not certified to work with win 2003 you need upgrade to 11, win2003 support started with 9.01,

upgrade to latest Arcserev or for time being download the trial copy from CA site and see if that works or not.

when setting up the restore job for the security information use the user name and password that has ownership of it.

I did log on as that user (that one of my first guesses when it would not restore that file). It did restore some folders from other tapes. But the one I merged won't restore any files on that session.

The recommendation had nothing to do with who log on as, it's all about the security information entered into the job.

I encountered something like this. When I merged tapes it would skip sessions sometimes...and thus anything from that session couldn't get restored.
Try this: (Its from CA Support)

Opened Regdt32 and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ComputerAssociates\BrightstorARCserveBackup\Base\Task
1) Click Add Key.. from the Edit menu. In the Name: field, type Merge
Leave the Class: field blank, and click OK.
2) Highlight Merge
3) Click Add Value... from the Edit menu. In the Name: field, type
DonotUseCatalogMerge
The Data Type: will be REG_DWORD
The Data Value: will be 1.
Click OK
Recycle the BrightStor Arcserve services.

The merges go really slow after this, but they work.
