Running Arcserve 2000, backup failed and hung arcserve agent. backup device switched off and on , agent on remote server re-started.Then, backup device showed as disconnected. Re-scanned for tape devices in windows control panel/tape devices, now ok. However, all 10 slots of backup device showed as being configured in 1 group.(They should have been separate groups) Re-configured groups,but tapes appear to be mounted in wrong slots and backup fails saying connecting to media for ages,then eventually cannot open media. 1 slot shows updating, but no activity. Can anyone help - where can I download the instructions for arcserve device configuration

Powering down a library while leaving the server running is risky business. Best to power down the server, then the library, then power up the library, wait for the library to finish initializing, and then power up the server.
After that it might be necessary (but usually not)to run the Device Configuration utility.
