ARCserve 11.1 will not initialize the tape engine.

ARCserve 11.1 will not initialize the tape engine. It shows Tape Engine is initializing... We have tried the cstop.bat and then cstart.bat. We have also tried powering down the spectra logic 2k library, bringing down the server, bringing up the library, and then the server but continue to have the same problem. We have also deleted the registry key for tape. When you bring up the tape configuration utility and it locks up. Any help would be appriciated.

Sounds like you have problems with your SCSI interface. Do you have the latest drivers running etc?

Are there any maintenance tools for the library you can use to try and connect?

Is the library disabled in Windows - this can often conflict with the drivers Arcserve uses.

All tools lock up when the go anywhere near the tape engine. The library and tape drives are disabled in Windows. We have the latest Adaptec drivers loaded also.

We found that the controler card that runs our G drive was not on the latest drivers but the card the library is on has up to date drivers. We loaded the new drivers for the other card and it fixed the problem. Thanks so much everyone.
