Applications won't stay open

Applications running on one our our WIN 98SE computers won't stay open. An application is launched, the user can work in the applications for a few seconds up to a couple of minutes, and then the application closes by itself. This has happened with every application on the PC, from notepad to Office apps. It does not happen every time either. I have not been able to identify any patterns with respect to this problem. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Just a wild guess ..but have you tried Checking for possible spyware ? some strange things do happen because of it

Sounds more like a virus than spyware to me, do you have a virus scanner with up tpo date definition files? Help us to help you, please post back and tell us if this helped.

Yep, Virus software is installed with up to date definitions. I'll check for spyware and let you know.
