I have an application server that is going to be used as a distributed voicemail.

I can login to the 7071 page and can log into the system via manager - to config and security using the same username/password.

When I try to use that username/password on the 7070 page I get the response - Server not responding. It may not have fully started yet.

I have rebooted the server completely to no avail.

I also cannot login with the same username/password to the VM Pro client it just says it is blocked. I have then tried to create a new user in security settings and assign it to the group with VM admin, but that comes up as invalid user and without the 7070 page I cannot force a sync of users.

Any ideas?

It could take up to a 1/2 hour for you to be able to log in once rebooted.

Before I re-booted the system had been up for 18 days!

Had a similar problem on a server recently because one of the service had not started (web-client I believe)
once restarted from web administration (port 7071) all was ok

I have now managed to get into the 7070 page, think it was web management I turned on. Was still having issues with the voicemail though, so thought I would go to the updates section on 7071 and do an uninstall of the voicemail and then I would press install to reinstall it. First part was fine, but no voicemail doesnt show up in the list of services or as an install option on the updates section.

As this was to be just a voicemail server it is now completely unusable, anyone know how to get it back!

To restore that voicemail server you most likely will have to reinstall the OVA or ISO for that app server. I don't think you can just reinstall services once uninstalled. Kinda of a stupid design.

Yeah, that is the conclusion I have come to - I did try upgrading to the next . level but no luck. Thankfully it hadn't been a live system yet so no major harm.

I had the same thing. Accidentally uninstalled text to speech from our app server when we had an issue with it thinking it would be easy to get back. Wrong.

not arrogant, just succinct.

if uninstalled from the upgrades tab of the apps server then it should sill be there to install (the RPM file should not get removed from the install).

either something went wrong with the original installation or Avaya have screwed up their Linux installation even more than usual in that release.
(why they cannot provide a repo accessible via the internet for these systems I do not know, it would make installing critical patches or upgrading so much easier)

Depends. The virtualized server install images don't include the original rpm install packages. So if you uninstall an rpm from the server then its gone gone.

The fix then is to either do an upgrade (which will install copies of all the rpms including the missing one). Else get the matching ISO for the virtual server and unzip it. The vmpro.rpm is in there somewhere and can be added through the web controls menus.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.
