We have been working at implementing Centos Software RAID1 for App Server 9.1.7..
We successfully create RAID1 in advanced setup menu of app server.
Software completely installs and boots up.
Upon ignition process, the system improperly recognizes physical disk and attempts to reformat, as opposed to recognizing software RAID partitions.
Wondering if anyone has had success in implementing Centos Software RAID ?

We have the app server in a virtual machine which is on Raid 10. It should see the virtual drive instead though. Make sure you save the config in raid POST config, and make sure that the server SATA controller is set for RAID and not AHCI.

I wonder why you are trying to build a raid config within the O!
Raid should brewer handled by a hardware raid controller.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Small customer wanted basic RAID on Lenovo TS140 - single CPU rackmount server.
I agree that Software RAID provides slower r/w performance than a dedicated hardware RAID Card. Negligible for a small 25 user VMPro/One-X site.
One of the main benefits of Linux OS RAID is that it is platform independent.
For instance, if the motherboard goes bad, pull the drives and pop into any system and off you go...
Avaya Application Server install shell does allow you to go into the CentOS partitioning and create Software RAID drives. However the Ignition Web shell sees the 2nd drive as a spare and attempts to format it......the format box is checked and grayed out...

That point is brought up many times. You gain cache and write time in case of crash with hardware raid, which is just software raid with hardware support :p

Unless you're crunching hard IO, i wouldn't let it bother me TBH. Most integrated raid from Supermicro and other named companies are great regardless of battery and memory.

In my opinion a backup strategy works well too.
