Hi all ...

Customer brought pc in this morning saying that it would not boot into windows...(stops at c:\ just after windows start-up screen appeared)

He then said it to be ok to format hdd cause he wanted win 98se installed rather than win95.

I formatted hdd (f-disked first) and afterbooting up with stiffy or win98 cd-rom and getting past the system test before windows start installing I get a :
---------------------------------------------------------
Applicatin Error

SUWIN caused a general protection fault in module user.exe at 000c:0b47
---------------------------------------------------------
and can't get any futher....

I have re-formatted again, set the bios to factory settings, and is currently stuck now.
Scandisk reports no errors on the hdd.
System specs:
celeron 400mhz
32 MB Ram
6 Gig hdd
used to run win 95

Thanks
Wessel

Disable the BIOS virus checking.
Set "PnP OS Installed" to NO.
Set "Reset configuration data" to YES.
If you're not using com 1 and 2, disable them in BIOS.
Remove all peripheral cards except video.
Restart, reinstall windows.
Insert peripheral cards one at a time, with full restart in between.
Sell him another 64 meg of RAM! Cheers,
Jim
