Applescript printing 1

Anyone got an applescript to do printing from Quark.

Ideally want to print all Quarks docs on a disk to PS file, set the resolution and the print style and so on.

Assume all pictures have been updated and fonts are available.

All help appreciated.

Setup the default printer the way you want it to run, then drop the Quark documents on the desktop print you have selected, and use the printstyle you have setup in Quark, when going to print. If you can't fix it in 20 call someone who can.

Well we think there is. We are working on it now and will post the results here shortly.

With luck we can low res PDF every Quark document ever made here (and that's a lot).

Should keep us out of mischief for a while. Then we'll need to applescript / batch Distiller into making the pages the right size. Then all we need to do is make a load of web pages to allow all staff to view them.

Got no other plans for next year anyway!

Thinking about this a bit more, Quark 5 might have more of a chance of doing this. Scripting is a pull down menu in it. If you can't fix it in 20 call someone who can.

Found a little utility that runs as a plug in for Quark for Mac. Comes from Meadows Information Systems in the States and prints multiple docs:

You set:
PS or printer
dpi
lpi
what to do with missing fonts, pictures
log files

Loads of other stuff.

Really cool and $150 for that and a couple of other utilities. I have emailed them but they are being really slow at getting back to me. Have got the demo but it only works for 3 docs at a time with 3 pages or less each.

Will post further info once I have tested fully.

batch printing from single quark doc or multiple docs to give individual ps files - any help greatly appreciated.

Have now got this app up and running and I have to say its rather cool.

Basically you choose the folder/s with the docs in (including nested folders), choose your print settings (print to file etc) and away you go.

Very nifty, particularly for batching up a load of documents to Distiller to make PDFs....

That tickled me!!! Missing pictures, missing fonts, low res pictures, badly named docs...

Oh what fun.
