Apache Server set-up

I have just recently purchased a high speed DSL line, and would like to set up my own web server on it. Apache looks like the best, but I know very little about setting up a server. Does anyone have time to type it all out, or know of any in-depth Apache instalation/server setup for dummies?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but I just had no clue what I was doing so I decided to come here. It is usually a pretty good place to come. I am mostly hardware guy, but looking to expand my knowledge.

Ok, thanks for your help smah. I just started browsing this forum and realized there are about 20 posts on this already. I will take your advice smah as well as read all those other posts. If I still need help after that, then I will post again.
