Apache External Redirects & Pre Fixes

Please make allowances for me as I am relatively new to Apache, "I used to be Netscape but I'm better now" ;-)

What I am looking to do is change a URL's prefix
i.e.

http://serv1/dir2/........

to get redirected to

http://serv2/......

I have managed to get a fixed URL redirection working easy enough, but if I want to hang on to the rest of the URL I hit a problem.

Again apologies if this is me being thick!
Any help greatly appreciated.

Try this:
RedirectMatch ^(.*)$

http://server2$1

This will redirect all requests to the other server. //Daniel
