It seems to be a common thing, sinc i've seen people in newsgroups having the same problem - nobody knows the solution tough....

That's the problem:

My Apache 1.3.19 running on linux dosn't serve the .swf files properly.
I just get a blank page with a frame, where the flash movie should be; the browser loads forever....

the file /etc/mime.types contains the following line:
application/x-shockwave-flash swf

the httpd.conf contains the following line:
AddType application/x-shockwave-flash swf

its not:

- the browser; (tested several browsers on different machines...)
- the .swf file or the .html file; (another webserver serves it without trouble...)

thanx for your help

Hi,

Have you also got in http.conf :

LoadModule mime_module modules/mod_mime.so

AddModule mod_mime.c

I have seen it said that its more reliable to use AddType in http.conf rather than via the TypesConfig file. The following doc from macromedia seems to suggest this too --> .

I.e. :

AddType application/x-shockwave-flash swf

or

AddType application/x-shockwave-flash .swf

Hope this helps

for what it's worth, I have no problem serving swf files in apache 1.3.19. We do have the AddType application/x-shockwave-flash.swf as previously reported
