OK y'all, I hate to keep bugging you with this, but I gotta. This out-of-the-box, e-commerce StoreFront product seems like it's pretty flexible, easy-to-use, and developed specifically for DW Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about it? As always, your help is greatly appreciated. No preaching about building my own, please! I don't have time on this project. Thanks.

How good something is is relevant. Analyse your clients shopping cart needs. If storefront meets them, then use it. If not, then don't. The test is do you ahve to change your client's business practivces to suit the cart or does it already meet them.

Not preaching or bragging, but my team started building a cms that was supposed to deal with any and all shopping needs of our clients 3 years ago. Every month we add more functionality as a new client with different needs comes along.

Off the shelf is good in some cases, but as soon as you client moves outside the square you need to write something custom.

What are your clients needs?

Thanks nippi, good advice. It looks like it meets my client's needs on paper, and of course through talks with their salespeople. Was just wondering if anyone who has used it has found any limitations, inflexibilities, etc.

nipi gave u good advice....if I was you I would suggest your client to look into the product and $$$ and let them know that is "on the test basis"....if they are willing to "pay for the test" then even better....if not then give them the other side of the story - they will pay you more for a custom system. I have not looked at the product but did u see any of the code that is generates and how "editable" it is?!
Anyhow, I think, that if u offer them alternatives .....well u did your job for the start.
All the best!

I agree with the advice above. Make sure the package you buy gives you access to the code - even if you have to pay extra for that version. If the company paying you to build the ecommerce site is successful, the will want custom tweaks, which should be very profitable.

Idealism increases in direct proportion to one's distance from (or ignorance of) the problem.
