Need to add a new server to the tree for Groupwise 6.0 and was thinking of making it NW 6.5. Does anyone have any tips or got ya's to share? I'm working on a test environment and am interested in any feedback before I invest time in the wrong area.

Thanks

i would always like to have the master up first

but as long as the ds isnt a greater version - dont see any major prob

NetWare 6.5 works very differently when adding or installing additional products through the gui install. You should work through this process very thoroughly before putting it into a production environment so you are familiar with what happens. It is very confusing the first time you do it because it almost appears as if you're going through the entire installation process again.

And as usual, before putting the 6.5 server into the tree, make sure you run through the deployment manager and do the items it recommends first like updating the schema, etc.

DS is a greater version (v 6.5 = 10510.64; v 6.0 = 10350.19 at NW6SP3), but you don't necessarily need to have the first 6.5 server be the master of [root]. Just make sure the master [root] gets the updated schema before you start. This point was mentioned in a Novell ATT class by the Novell instructor.
