I'm thinking ahead here. If you have set up a software JBOD array on XP and it breaks for any reason what are the chances of data recovery?

Could XP be made to 'see' each individual disk? If so, would half the files be on one and half on another?

Would software like getdataback be able to recover files from individual disks?

Which is safest if you need a larger disk? RAID 0 or JBOD?

Like striping, if you lose one drive of this array, you lose everything.

Why do you loose everything? I understand that with RAID 0 half of every file is on each disk effectively. So if one disk dies you really have no chance of getting your data back. But with JBOD aren't files on one disk or the other? So you should only loose half your data. I would have thought?

I have been googling for an answer, but not really finding one. I really would like to understand exactly how JBOD works with XP.
