Anyone know of command I can enter in Solaris 8 to find out what RAID level it is running?

depends of type of hardware/software you are using is hardware raid ? like A1000 disk array with raid manager, or software Raid ? with Disksuite or Veritas LVM ?

Regards,

Carlos Almeida,

I'm running a hardware raid on a ultra e 450.

Carlos,
I am running an ultra e 450. Solaris 8 was already installed previously. DiskSuite or veritas LVM are not installed. If I do have to reinstall the OS, is there an option during setup to configure the RAID level or will I have to get other software?

Thanks,

Lance

ok so if you are using a hardware raid on a E450 i think you are using a SRC/P scsi raid controller.. unlike Sun's other hardware raid products, there is only 1 command that comes with SRC/P, /opt/SUNWhwrdg/dptutil, use this command to check the status of the logical storage units, or build new "LSU's".

Hope it helps,

Regards,

Carlos Almeida.

You may have to check on the RAID controller for details. Unless the RAID is intergrated with the Operating System it usually just appears as a large disk.
Most RAID controllers have a display which will give you details and a lot will provide a serial connection so you can connect a terminal or PC and access via a menu system.

I don't have the command available. I guess it is safe to assume that my machine is setup in a Non RAID configuration.

Thanks for the help

Lance
